Join us for a Dallas Pride movie event

September 8, 2011

This year, Outtakes Dallas is excited to team up with the historic Texas Theatre to bring the Dallas LGBT community an exciting Pride Week 2011 event on September 14. We will be featuring a reading and selected scenes screening of the movies “Ciao” and “Pit Stop” with Yen Tan and Eric Steele.

In “Ciao,” a man dies very unexpectedly and leaves behind two men; Jeff, his best friend, and Andrea, an Italian he’s been corresponding with online. Jeff informs Andrea of Mark’s passing; Andrea writes back to express his shock and sympathies. On a whim, they continue their correspondence and a rapport grows between them. Eventually Jeff and Andrea meet, where they extend their email exchanges into more personal and intimate conversations.

“Pit Stop” is a narrative feature film that tells the parallel stories of two gay men in a small Texas town. It encompasses dramatically rich subplots with a diverse range of supporting characters. At the end, the main characters, Gabe and Ernesto, meet each other for a one-night-stand—having endured all the struggles and heartbreaks and wondering if they’ll ever find love again. Interestingly, the two face the possibility that they might just be meant for each other.

We invite you to tour the historic Texas Theatre, grab a cocktail and enjoy an evening of movie clips and conversation with the Steele, the movie’s producer, Tan, the movie’s director.  P.S. BTW, Tan is also known for his work on the upcoming gay-themed movie “Pit Stop”.

Be sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 14 from 7:30 until 9 p.m. and invite your friends to tag along to this free event. As you might expect at many trendy theaters, there will be a cash bar for delicious cocktails and munchies.

The pinnacle of Dallas Pride festivities is the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade, which will take place on Sunday, September 18 in Oak Lawn. For more information on this and other official Dallas Pride festivities, please visit www.dallasprideparade.com.
